Citadels of Delhi Series- Tughlaqabad Fort Walk

Among the myriad seats of imperial power in Delhi over the centuries, perhaps none is as imposing and enigmatic as the massive 14th century citadel of Tughlaqabad. This somewhat infrequently visited monument in the South Eastern corner of Delhi played a short yet pivotal role in the history of medieval North India and its story affords us a glimpse of social, religious, military and architectural preoccupations of the early Tughlaq era. The walk takes us through this magnificent but ruinous imperial citadel, as well as the grand tomb of the first two Tughlaq Sultans nearby.
