Flipside Story: The Tale of Two Marinas

Marina Beach, and its colonial buildings, are often considered the prime tourist attractions in Madras. But what preceded the British colonial settlement in the area? Are there any remnants of that pre-colonial past?

In this tour, we explore two sides of Marina Beach, highlighting the attention that has been given to the colonial past and the historical importance of the forgotten fisherfolk community that has been pushed to its margins. After viewing the grand colonial architecture, we will interact with members of the fishing community and hear their stories, finishing with a meal in a fishing community restaurant.
