About the event
This virtual workshop will explore the dynamics between architecture, politics and society in 19th and 20th century India and how these intersected to influence one another. Participants will gain insights into how the different phases of Indian history impacted not just the nature of politics but also had certain implications within society, thereby shaping the architectural character of the country.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will learn about some of the most prevalent architectural styles and practices in India during the 19th and 20th centuries; their defining elements and characteristics and the reasons for their implementation.
Participants will learn to draw links between important historical episodes and the ensuing built environment, hence learning to critically evaluate buildings beyond their appearance.
Participants will also learn how to approximately date buildings with regards to their architectural styles.
